If, like me, your perfect pair of golf shoes offers the all-day comfort and durability of a trainer with the stability and support of a proper shoe, then Ecco really are your go-to brand.

The spikeless category is one that Ecco pretty much created, certainly at the premium level. It is a good 15 years now since Fred Couples showed up at the Masters wearing a pair of the first Golf Street shoes. Before then, it was unthinkable for the serious golfer to play in spikeless shoes. Now it is very much the norm.

The Ecco M Golf Street 720 shoes are a premium product – and you can tell us much from the moment you slip them on to your feet. If you haven’t worn a pair of Ecco Golf Street before then you might be expecting shoe that is aimed at summer play. That just isn’t the case – even though they are very light, you can wear these shoes all year round and they will give your feet the support you need. They are also fully waterproof and feature a GoreTex lining. There is more to the Ecco M Golf Street 720 than immediately meets the eye.

It is a few years since I last wore a pair of Golf Street shoes and I had forgotten how robust they feel when you slip them on. The trick is that even though they look like a pair of regular trainers, they simultaneously feel like a pair of golf shoes. 

When I wear the Ecco M Golf Street 720 shoes, I know immediately that I have a pair of serious golf shoes on – it’s just that the look like a pair of trainers.

Ecco M Golf Street 720 Golf Shoe Review: NCG Verdict

The Ecco M Golf Street 720 are a great option for the serious golfer. Personally, with this kind of shoe, I wouldn’t want to wear them too much in the depths of winter, but perhaps not for the reason you might expect. It’s purely because I want to be able to wear them out and about when away from the golf course so I don’t want them to get grimy and covered in mud. In terms of performance, I have no doubt that they are up to the job of coping with a British golf in the winter months.

For those of you who are not accustomed to wearing spikeless shoes, I can reassure you that the Ecco Golf Street sole works extremely well on a variety of surfaces and even when slopes are involved.

Of course, they also look great too.

They are at their best for the golfer who wants to slip on a pair of shoes, drive to the range, then to the shop, then on to the golf club and afterwards into the clubhouse and go back home again without ever having to change their footwear. Does that sound like you?

I guarantee you that having a pair of Ecco M Golf Street 720 at your disposal the next time you are on a golf trip will be a real game-changer, not least in saving you some luggage.

I have been on domestic golf trips with three pairs of shoes in the boot and never touched two of them because I never wanted or needed to take my pair of Golf Streets off. I am not sure what more you could ask for from a golf shoe than that.
